not worth the money by Mark Johnson
this book was the most unedited book i have ever read.
it is not worth the paper it is printed on
Total speculation, incomplete and not accurate by J. Perez
I picked up this book in hopes of gaining more information on the world of JKR’s imagination. What I found was a gross abundance of speculation and inaccurate information. For starters, the author stipulates that transfiguring ones self into an animal is more versitile and useful then becoming an animagus and yet fails to discuss how said person would return to their original selves since they would be an animal. She goes on to discuss the characters known to the world as of book 5 yet leaves out Remus Lupin and actually states that Sirius was probably a slytherin (JKR has stated that he and the rest of the marauders were all griffindor), the entire Prewett family was killed by Voldemort or on his orders (Molly Weasley is a Prewett), “there is much debate on James’ death all we know for certain is he died after Lily.” While we can put the last statement down as a possible mistake due to the flawed copy of GoF that was released and later corrected and re-released, the rest of the book cannot be dismissed as easily. Most of the information given in this book is presented as undeniable fact yet there is no reference to where she gets her information from. If your looking for real verified information on the world of Harry Potter, you’d be much better served by visiting the Harry Potter Lexicon on the web then throwing your money away on this book.
Accio Editor!! by C. L. Angell
While the information in the text is extremely accurate, the editor was not!! The typographical errors are an abomination in both the wizarding and Muggle worlds!! As the author stated in the introduction, abbreviations are used throughout the text. However that does not excuse the careless errors that can be found on nearly every page. The author indicated that she intends to release updated editions to reflect information found in HPB and eventually Book 7. Hopefully the editor will correct the multitude of typos in this edition before attempting to assimilate new information into future editions. Overall, the book does make a nice edition to any HP library and is very useful for researching trivial facts that may have been forgotten.
Harry Potter Companion is a real companion by R. Zaccarini
I have not read this cover to cover but just skimming through it gives me all kinds of information. This is a great book to check on background information and is good to have handy when reading or rereading the Harry Potter books.
