When choosing a camera, it may not be necessary to pay the big bucks for a camera with the highest megapixel rating. Most people just don’t need that much power in a camera.

Is ‘megapixel’ the most overused word in the language of digital photography?

Tell anyone you are thinking of buying a new digital camera, and the first question they will probably ask you is “How many megapixels does it have?” In my gallery I often overhear comments like “I would love to take better photos, but my camera doesn’t have enough megapixels.”

American Idol continues to set new records each week with the number of votes garnered from viewers when the time comes to selecting which contestant they liked best and preferred to have them stay in the competition. It is astounding as that interest remains in a talent show that is now into its seventh season, and while television ratings might have dipped slightly this year, it is undeniable that fans still love the show, and would remain devoted as long as there are willing contestants. And the latter numbers in the tens of thousands each year when American Idol auditions are held in the various cities across the United States.

Roulette was first played in 18th century France, with the name literally meaning “little wheel.” It is believed to have sprung from a unique fusion in the English games of Roly-Poly, E.O., Ace of Hearts, as well as the games of Biribi and Hoca from Italy.

Historical records show that the game may have been played as early as 1796 in Paris, being described in a book written by Jaques Lablee called “La Roulette, ou le Jour.” There is an even earlier reference to the game as well in New France - Canada - where the betting games of Roulette, Dice, Hoca and Faro were banned; this was referred to in a legal regulation of 1756.
