For an old log cabin, finding a contractor is very difficult.

The methods used in the original construction are not practiced by current traditional contractors.

Many of these cabins are located in rural areas where there is more sub quality than quality restoration work. Part of this is driven by the lack of increase in real estate values in the country.

In the past, many improvements made on old rural properties, such as log cabins, have been done by owners who consider themselves “handy with tools”. While there are many who are capable of doing professional level work on their own homes, there are too many who aren’t.
